During his March 2022 residency, jazz virtuoso bassist and Colburn Conservatory alumnus Marlon Martinez will present a tribute to jazz icon Billy Strayhorn. His big band Marlonius Jazz Orchestra will revive lesser known and newly discovered works.
Also on the program is filmed work, choreographed by Colburn Dance Dean and Amplify artist Silas Farley. The ballet is set to significant recordings of piano pieces by Strayhorn. Audiences can see this work danced live on Saturday, March 26 during Counterpointe.
